The purpose of this survey is to discover what strategies and uses institutions of higher learning employ when implementing e-portfolios in their settings. (By e-portfolios, we mean any use of electronic or digital ways of archiving data in a portfolio form, for any purpose, within higher education.) This survey will take approximately 10-20 minutes of your time and involves no more risks than those ordinarily encountered in daily life. There is no tangible benefit or compensation you will receive from participating in this survey.
The results of this study are to be published in an upcoming book entitled, Informing, Educating, Assessing, and Managing Effectively with e-Portfolios: Applications in Education, Business, & Public Service, along with possible future journal article publication.
Information obtained during this study which could identify you will be kept strictly confidential. Your survey responses will be automatically submitted to a secure server. In any papers or presentations done from this research, individual responses will be presented in aggregate form without any institutional affiliation identified.
You have the right to withdraw from participation at any time or to choose not to participate or to answer only a few of the questions on the survey and submit them. By doing so, you will not be penalized in any way. Please note the final three questions are required as indicated by a red asterisk (*). These questions request your title, the name of your institution and the type of institution.
If you have any questions about your participation, you may contact Dr. April Chatham-Carpenter at chatham@uni.edu or 319-273-5901, or the office of the Human Participants Coordinator, University of Northern Iowa, at 319-273-2748, for answers to questions about rights of research participants and the participant review process. If you are willing to participate in this study, please continue with the survey questions that follow.
